I read a ton of comics, so I decided to talk about them as well.

Last Month in Comics – September 2016

I have rescheduled this post more times than I needed to this week, simply because I could not bring myself to start this stack. 20 comics in one go is exhausting, and I still feel like I’m missing three titles. I usually like to have these kinds of posts done by the eighth of the month, but here it comes on the ninth, which is good enough in my book.

September was an interesting month in the Marvel universe, as everyone currently involved in Civil War II had something to say about Bruce Banner’s death. Which is fine, but I’m pretty sure this could have been said in August. Over at Archie Comics, Josie and the Pussycats makes its debut, whilst Jughead gets a new writer and Archie ends its second arc. Black Mask Studios debuts The Forevers, and DC is apparently in need of a web editor. Those blank banners aren’t going to fix themselves.

You’ll notice that the cover image for this post is from Captain America: Steve Rogers. Even though I’m not a big fan of that run, I can’t deny how cute this cover is.

Last Month in Comics – August 2016

Hey all, I’m finally back on the scene with the last bit of my August list. The good thing about it is that I also have most of my September comics as well. The bad part? These posts are almost as exhausting as setting up the queue for my music blog. In a good way, though!

So, without further ado, here’s last month in comics:

This Week in Comics – August 23, 2016

Oh my, I haven’t done one of these in forever! It feels like it’s been months since I’ve been able to do a This Week in Comics post, and I’m so happy that I can get this out before Wednesday.

This week’s post includes the end of the first Insexts arc, what looks to be a major moment in Civil War II, 3 Batverse titles, and, possibly, the plot for the Wonder Woman movie. Also, at least four of these reviews were written to the music of Toto, as I’ve recently found out that I’m a bigger fan than I thought I was.

Onto the comics:

Last Week in Comics – 1st Week of August 2016

I know what you’re thinking. It’s not the first week of August. However, these comics that I’m about to write about were definitely put on sale and bought during the week of August 3rd, so I’m going to talk about them in that context.

Also, two of the comics I’m writing about are bi-monthly. So reading this post before you pick up this week’s comics will probably help you out a bit.

Last Month in Comics – July 2016

You know what I just found out? Archie Comics puts the designation for whatever Variant cover you might have picked up on the bar code in the back of the comic. I’m about to start my third ongoing comic from the New Riverdale lineup, and I collect The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for my cousin, but this is the first time that I’ve ever noticed this.

You learn something new everyday.

Now Archie Comics, doesn’t always call them variants on the cover, but the bar code designation will say whether it’s cover A, B, or whatever. Cover A being the main cover, and anything else being a variant. Midtown comics also lists the different covers that way on their site, along with the artist’s name.

In any case, here’s Last Month in Comics – the July edition:

Last Month In Comics – June 2016

One of these days, I’m going to sort myself out about these Week/Month in Comics posts. But, as long as you’re still here with me, here’s the rundown for June. Please note that everything on this list is directly from my subscriptions, with no added titles. So if you’re looking for a review of Future Quest #2, it won’t be found here as I did not add it to my box.

Now, some of you might remember that Rebirth and Civil War II recently started, so a lot of the comics on my list were noticeably affected. These things were neither good or bad; they just kind of worked, if only for the sake of continuity.

#FridayReads – June 10, 2016

This week (and last) I read a ton of trades that I thought were just amazing. So I rounded them all up, and put them here.

This Month In Comics – May 2016

Hey All!

I am back again with the whole of my May pull list: 16 issues from 16 different comics. I refuse to call this Last Month In Comics because I wrote majority of it while we were still in May, and June starts on New Comic Book Day. Deal with it.

This (last) month, two of my favorite comics ended! Also, Steve Rogers came back as a White Supremacist, and I actually liked a Cyborg issue. Crazy month, this May was.

Let’s begin!

Last Month In Comics – April 2016 pt. 2

So last month, I was not able to review all of my April pull list because of personal issues. Thankfully, this month I got all of my comics, and am now able to play catch up.

I will more than likely be doing a big round up post for the May installment of “This Month In Comics”, but that won’t be until sometime after next Wednesday. I don’t like the idea of these posts being so close together.

April saw the end of a few arcs, and even one series, as well as a writer change for a title that is somehow managing to survive the reboot. With DC Rebirth right around the corner, I expect a few places on my pull list will be emptying out in order to accommodate some new additions. While I don’t agree with the ending of some of these books, I’m optimistic about beginning the newer ones.
